CME Mission Statement

Purpose
The purpose of The Bert M. Glaser National Retina Institute’s CME program is to provide physicians with high-quality, evidence-based, continuing medical education in the treatment of diseases and disorders affecting the eye.

Content Areas
Content areas are based on identified professional practice gaps in physician competence, performance, and/or patient outcomes.  CME Activity topics include but are not limited to:

  • Cataract and Anterior Segment
  • Cornea and External Disease
  • Glaucoma
  • Neuro-Ophthalmology and Orbit
  • Oculoplastics and Orbit
  • Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus
  • Refractive Management and Intervention
  • Retina and Vitreous
  • Uveitis
  • Comprehensive Ophthalmology

Target Audience
The Bert M. Glaser National Retina Institute’s CME program is primarily focused on addressing the educational needs of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and vitreoretinal specialists.  Selected activities are also made available to endocrinologists, internists, family care physicians, general practitioners, and primary care physicians involved in the care of a patient with an ophthalmic condition.  In addition, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other health care professionals may benefit from participating in these activities.

  • Journal-based CME
  • Webinars
  • Podcasts
  • RSS
  • Other forms of web-based materials and measuring outcomes

Expected Results
The expected results of The Bert M. Glaser National Retina Institute’s CME program will be measurable changes in physician competence, performance, and/or patient outcomes facilitated by the CME program.  Careful measurement and documentation of the educational outcomes and practice modification will be used to continually improve our content and methods of delivery.
